Chad Amour
Chad Amour, lecturer and filmmaker, was the third speaker in our "Expanding Understanding: A Faith and Life Speaker Series". The purpose of this series is to present special speakers, each an expert in their given field, who help us expand our understanding of life issues while connecting them to the Christian faith.
Chad Amour was at Fish Lake Lutheran on Sunday, March 9, 2008, at 3pm and discussed a screening of his latest documentary, The Shadows of Virtue, with us. See photos of the event below.
The Shadows Of Virtue is an introspective look at the actions God's love compels us to take in response to the crisis of global poverty. What are the complexities and pitfalls of learning how to love across cultural, economic, political, religious and racial barriers? How do we honor and value those in need without objectifying them? Can we avoid the temptation to fixate upon a single virtue rather than love itself? The lessons to be learned here are applicable to all - not just in the context of what is happening in Tanzania, but what is happening in our communities, our homes and our hearts. The Shadows of Virtue illuminates this fundamental call to love others as an end unto itself. That people are an end unto themselves.
The Shadows of Virtue will both entertain and inspire us as it creatively tells great stories that will challenge people to put their beliefs into action.
Preproduction on The Shadows Of Virtue began in September of 2005. Production began in Tanzania in April of 2006 and concluded in Minneapolis in December of that same year. The film was released on February 26 of 2007.
Development of Redemption, a documentary about the adventure of three passionate individuals struggling for the freedom of their fellow Africans from oppression, began in May of 2007. Production will start in May of 2008. .
