2011 Youth Mission Trip Date - July 22-30, 2011
WHERE: Denver, Colorado
Located near the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Denver is a city thriving in arts and culture and offers countless opportunities for adventure and outdoor recreation. Blue skies and sunshine are the norm in this clean, young and environmentally conscious city.
WHAT WILL WE DO: Take your eyes off the scenic landscape and you’ll find a large homeless population and many people, both young and old, struggling with poverty. Your group can be the hands and feet of Christ to these individuals through your ministry to the homeless, participation in children’s programs and outreach to the elderly.
WHEN: July 22 to July 30, 2011
COST: $460 (This includes registration, transportation, and whitewater rafting on the way to Denver.)
WHERE WE WILL TRAVEL: We will leave on Friday, July 22nd and stay in churches along the way. Sunday morning we will spend time whitewater rafting and then check into the service site in Denver. We will serve with the Youthworks staff in Denver until Friday morning. Youthworks is a non-denominational Christian organization that provides short-term mission opportunities throughout the United States and Canada. Pastor Dale and Carrie have had many positive experiences with Youthworks over the years. We will spend Friday night in a church on the way home and return to Fish Lake on Saturday, July 30th.
PAYMENTS:
$75 non-refundable deposit will hold your spot for Mission 2011
$100 due on January 15 at this point you are committed to paying for the $460 in full (minus whatever fundraising that you do)
Final payment is due June 1st
(This includes transportation, lodging and food in Denver, and whitewater rafting. You will be responsible for food on the way out and back and possibly activities in Denver during the week.)
One of the most important parts of the Mission experience is the preparation that leads up to the trip. It is during this time that the relationships are built that God works through during the trip. Starting in January there will be monthly gatherings to prep for the trip. Please mark the following dates on your calendar and make them a priority:

It is our goal that everyone has the opportunity to go on a Mission Trip, so scholarships are available. Talk to Carrie about how to apply.
Fundraising Opportunities
While $460 might sound like a large sum of money, we try to offer lots of opportunities for students to raise money and help defray the cost of the trip. The following are some of the opportunities that we are hoping to have as fundraisers.

To receive fundraising money, mission trippers must participate in the fundraisers and work together for the common good.
The goal of fundraising is to
1. Provide an opportunity to build relationships with congregation members of Fish Lake.
2. To build relationship with the youth and adults going to the trip.
3. Help to provide fund to make trips more affordable for youth of Fish Lake.
