Minnesota had been a state for only 9 years. Chisago County, having been formed when Minnesota was a territory, was 15 years old. The Civil War had ended only 2 years earlier and Fish Lake Township did not exist yet. Find out more about the early, foundational years of The Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Church of Fish Lake.
On August 5th, 2003, the Fish Lake Church Council voted unanimously to approve the Social Ministry Committee's proposal to enter into a program and begin a partnership with a companion congregation of the Iringa Diocese in Tanzania. At our 2006 Annual Congregational Meeting we adopted our "G.R.O.W. at Fish Lake Lutheran" Mission and Vision Statement. This new statement is a result of a year long study and compilation of input from the congregation regarding the present priorities as well as future hopes for Fish Lake Lutheran. G.R.O.W. is an acronym for Giving, Relationships, Outreach, and Worship. Find out more about how this G.R.O.W. Vision and Mission has driven our ministries at Fish Lake in recent years and how we hope it will lead us into the future.
It is our hope that everyone might feel God’s love in this community of faith.

Children, Youth and their Families are an important part of our faith and worshipping community!
Bringing children and youth to church and to worship may not always be easy; but it's an important part of spiritual growth - for both all ages. Young people learn by adult example what it means to worship, love and serve God. We have a children's sermon every week and a nursery that is staffed with volunteers that is available following the children's sermon. We have spiritually strong, exciting and fun Sunday School and Confirmation programs and a growing high school ministry. We love to celebrate the gifts of our young people and witness them participating and growing with us in worship! Find out more about the Children's, Youth and Family ministry opportunities at Fish Lake Lutheran.
Giving Back to God - is at the heart of who we are at Fish Lake.
We want all members to be educated, informed, challenged, and excited about giving back to God what God has first given us - our time, talents, and treasures. It is in our giving back to God that we are blessed, and as a community of faith we celebrate together God's abundant blessings. Find out more about how we view Stewardship at Fish Lake.
Relationships - are the foundation of our ministries and reflect God's relationship with God's creation. We are a Christian community that connects people of all ages with God and with one another, in informal and intentional ways, such as support groups, adult education,Sunday School, Mission trips, retreats, Bible studies, and other discipleship and fellowship opportunities across all aspects of our ministsry. Among these opportunities are our ever popular annual corn feed in August, annual pork dinner in November, annual quilt bingo in September, annual youth spaghetti dinner in April and annual soup suppers during Advent and Lent. Another exciting inter-generational opportunity for relationship building called F5 occurs on the first Sunday evening of each month throughout the year. Find out more about F5.
Outreach - to others in the name of Jesus, locally and globally, is our response to his life-giving ministry. We are each uniquely gifted for ministry and seek opportunities to share ourselves, our resources, our faith, and the love of Christ with a variety of people near and far. Find out more about our Mission of the Month, Youth & Family Mission Trips and Africa Partnership.
Worship - is central to our faith and life as a time of celebration and renewal. We desire to reach out to people through our time of worship together which invites prayer, participation, and engages life today in powerful ways. Celebration of Word and Sacrament is thoughtfully combined with other elements of worship to create inspiring and meaningful worship experiences. Our worship is all-inclusive and easy to follow. We worship outdoors in the summer once a month bringing in local bands to lead us. Find out more about worship at Fish Lake including weddings, baptisms, and first communion.
